University of Brasília (UnB) was created in 1961 to be the main university of the new brazilian capital. From its very beginning, University of Brasilia (UnB) strived for excellence in teaching, research and outreach courses, thereby ranking as one of the most respected universities in Brazil. It has 26 institutes and colleges, with 53 departments, and offers 136 face-to-face undergraduate course, 86 master’s degree courses and 68 doctoral degree courses. UnB offers free public education of excellence for Brazilian and foreign students. UnB was considered the seventh best institution among 37 Brazilian federal institutions in the Emerging Economies 2022 ranking of the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE). It has the largest conglomerate of academic facilities in the Center-West, with four campuses in the Federal District. Its main campus is located in heart of Brasília, a planned and modern city, marked by the architecture of Oscar Niemeyer, a challenge for the construction technology. Niemeyer’s modernist architecture made Brazil’s federal capital a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.
